Joseph Marek does not limit his work to any single style of architecture or setting. Instead, he applies the same fundamental principle to every project: the creation of timeless spaces that combine the grace of classical design with a modern sensibility. In each of his designs, he draws upon a lifelong interest in plants and a wealth of experience to convey the sensibility of a “garden.”
Joseph studied architecture as an undergraduate at Yale University. He then earned a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Virginia. Through his education, Joseph came to clearly understand the ability and power of architecture and design to influence how we live, and he brings this vision to all his projects.
After 15 years of practice with renowned architects and landscape designers on both coasts, Joseph established the office of Joseph Marek Landscape Architecture in 2001.
Currently, the firm specializes in residential projects at a variety of scales throughout southern California. Joseph has also designed projects ranging from large-scale commercial headquarters and university
master plans to retail and restaurant gardens.
Joseph Marek is a licensed landscape architect in the State of California. He is a member of the
American Society of Landscape Architects
and the
Garden Conservancy Society of
Fellows. He lives and works in Santa Monica, California.
